MEAC Announces Weekly Women's Basketball Honors

Hampton forward Quanneisha Perry was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Coppin State's Larrisa Carter received Rookie of the Week honors, while Florida A&M's Antonia Bennett earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Perry (Forward, 5-10, Sr.  Decatur, Georgia) averaged 15.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 2.0 steals aiding the Lady Pirates to a 2-0 week against Maryland E. Shore and S.C. State. In a 77-57 win over S.C. State, Perry totaled 37 points will grabbing 16 rebounds and blocking four shots. For the week, Perry shot 97.1 percent from the charity stripe.

Carter (Forward, 5-11, Fr., Atlanta, Georgia) helped lead Coppin State to a 2-0 week defeating Norfolk State and Bethune-Cookman. She averaged 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 blocks in two competitions. Carter had 18 points and nine rebounds in a 64-55 win over Norfolk State while adding two steals.

Bennett (Forward/Center, 6-0, Jr., Lakeland, Florida) totaled 26 rebounds, seven blocks and seven steals in two games for the Lady Rattlers posting a 1-1 record for the week. Against Morgan State, Bennett grabbed a season-high 16 boards while blocking three shots. In a 79-65 win over S.C. State, she totaled 10 rebounds, four blocks and four steals.  

Other Top Performers:

Sarah Bolden (B-CU) held a 51-percent field goal average in two games for the Lady Wildcats.

Kianna Conner (DSU) scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds in a 73-67 win over North Carolina A&T.

Theresa Davis (MSU) finished with 19 points and pulled down nine boards in a win over Florida A&M.

Saadia Doyle (How) averaged 19.0 points for the Lady Bison going 2-0 for the week over Delaware State and N.C. Central.

Amanda Hairston (B-CU) averaged 14.5 points and 8.0 rebounds against N.C. Central and Coppin State.

Tameka McKelton (FAMU) totaled 22 points and two steals against S.C State.

Casey Morton (UMES) shot a 73-percent shooting average from the charity stripe in two games for the Lady Hawks - (11-of-15).

Chena Parker (UMES) scored 19 points and five rebounds in a 72-49 win over Norfolk State.

Whitney Wiley (SCSU) averaged 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals for the Lady Bulldogs.
