MEAC Announces Weekly Women's Basketball Honors

Howard forward Saadia Doyle was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Norfolk State's Rae Corbo received Rookie of the Week honors while teammate Rachel Gordon received Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Doyle (Forward, 5-11, So., Atlanta, Georgia) averaged 20.0 points, and 10.5 rebounds to lead the Lady Bison to a 1-1 record against Bethune-Cookman and Maryland Eastern Shore. Doyle posted 22 points, 10 rebounds and was perfect from the charity stripe (6-of-6) as the Lady Bison defeated Bethune-Cookman, 54-39. She followed that performance with a double-double of 18 points, 11 rebounds and one steal against Maryland Eastern Shore. For the week, Doyle shot 51.0 percent from the floor and 92.0 percent from the charity stripe.

Corbo (Guard, 5-6, Fr., Englewood, New Jersey) aided the Spartans to a 1-1 week against South Carolina State and Morgan State. For the week she totaled 31 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals while shooting 85.7 percent from the charity stripe. In a 66-65 win against Morgan State, Corbo posted 20 points and dished out two assists while grabbing two boards and one steal.

Gordon (Forward, 6-0, Fr., Woodbridge, Virginia) totaled 25 rebounds, two blocks and two steals for the Spartans in two games. Against Morgan State, Gordon grabbed 13 rebounds, stole two passes and added one block in the 66-65 win. In a loss to South Carolina State, she pulled down 12 rebounds and added one block.

Adobi Agbasi (UMES) posted a double-double of 12 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks against Morgan State

Jaquayla Berry (NCAT) averaged 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games for the Lady Aggies.

Fannie Goodwin (SCSU) combined for 22 points and 13 rebounds against Norfolk State and Bethune-Cookman.

Jericka Jenkins (Ham) averaged a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists in two games for the Lady Pirates.

Chelsea Sanders (UMES) posted 17 points and stole three passes in 56-58 loss to Maryland Eastern Shore.

Mahala Thomas (MSU) scored 25 points while going 10-for-15 from the floor against Norfolk State.

LaKendra Wilkerson (UMES) posted a double double 10 points, 10 rebounds in a 56-58 overtime loss to Morgan State.

Whitney Wiley (SCSU) averaged 18.0 points and shot 79-percent from the charity stripe for the Lady Bulldogs in two games.
