South Carolina State dropped a double-header to Oakland (Michigan), losing 11-3 and 9-0, in a non-conference match-up at Hillcrest Field in Orangeburg, S.C.
In Game One Oakland (2-2) struck first putting up one run in the opening inning of the game. The Golden Grizzles put up three additional runs before, SC State bats came to life. The Lady Bulldogs put up three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull within one, 3-4, of Oakland. The Golden Grizzles had a breakout inning, putting up seven runs in the top of the sixth to take an 11-3 advantage. SC State could not score in its half of the sixth, hence falling in Game One by the eight run margin.
Game Two was a much closer contest as SC State (0-12) allowed just two runs over four complete innings. Oakland did manage to put together two big innings, scoring three runs in the top of the fifth and four in the top of the seven to take the 9-0 advantage and Game Two victory.
Alison Transel was the winner in Game One and Marisa Everitt picked up the win in Game Two for the Golden Grizzles. Vianney Gomez and Raven Johnson were the losers in Games One and Two respectively.
