Bulldogs Hold Off Spartans 64-62 South Carolina State 64, Norfolk State 62
ORANGEBURG, SC-Senior guard/forward Darnell Porter poured in game-high 18 points, while junior guard Brandon Riley chipped in 14 and grabbed seven rebounds to give SC State a 64-62 edge over Norfolk State Monday.
Leading the way for Norfolk State was junior center Kyle O' Quinn with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Chris McEachin added 12 in the loss. Senior Rio Pitt grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, while junior forward Presano Bell had 11 point and nine rebounds.
SC State improved to 8-19 overall, 4-10 in the MEAC, while Norfolk State dropped to 8-18 and 6-7 in the league.
A dunk senior forward Tim Zephyr put the Spartans ahead four, 31-35 at the17:37 mark. A tip-in in by junior forward Joe Ikhinmwin put the Bulldogs ahead three, 46-43 with 9:06 left in regulation. Senior Aleek Pauline cut SC State's lead to one, 58-57 by sinking a pair of free-throws with 1:07 left.
A pair of free-throws by Brandon Riley followed by a block shot by senior center Rio Pitt sealed the 64-62 victory for SC State.

Rattlers Spoil Senior Night For Pirates
Florida A&M 58, Hampton 55
HAMPTON, Va. - Hampton lost its third straight game on Monday night, dropping its home finale 58-55 to Florida A&M at the HU Convocation Center.
Junior guard Darrion Pellum had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer, but his deep 3-pointer bounced off the right side of the rim.
Pellum led the Pirates (19-7, 9-5 MEAC) with 17 points on 7-for-17 shooting, while junior guard Kwame Morgan added 13 points despite shooting 4-for-13 from the floor. Junior forward Danny Agbelese pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds, and junior center Milade Lola-Charles blocked a career-high four shots.
Morgan hit a trey with 26 seconds left to pull Hampton to within three, 53-50, but the Rattlers made five of six free throws down the stretch to ice the game.
FAMU (12-15, 7-7 MEAC) shot 35.7 percent (20-for-56) from the floor and out-rebounded the Pirates 40-39. The Rattlers also forced Hampton into 19 turnovers, scoring 19 points off of them.

Elliott's Tip In Helps Bethune-Cookman Nip Howard

Washington, DC-Stanley Elliott scored on a tip-in after a missed shot with 1.0 seconds left to help Bethune-Cookman escape with a 66-64 win over Howard in a MEAC game at Burr Gymnasium.
After the Bison (6-21 overall, 4-10 MEAC) tied the game at 64 on a pair of free throws by Mike Phillips with 10 seconds remaining, the Wildcats (17-11 overall, 11-3 MEAC) pushed the ball up the floor and got a long 3-point attempt by Kevin Dukes that came off the right side of the rim and into the hands of Elliott, who used his left hand to tip the ball in the basket.
Howard called its final timeout and attempted a long inbounds pass, but it was intercepted by Bethune-Cookman as the buzzer went off.
The loss snapped a four-game home conference win streak by the Bison while the first place Wildcats won their fourth straight and remained undefeated (8-0) in conference play on the road this season.
Howard got a strong first half effort from freshman center Alphonso Leary, who tallied 11 of his career-high 21 points in the first stanza. BCU countered with 10 points from their junior guard CJ Reed, who scored five of his 10 half points in the last minute, including a three pointer at the buzzer to give his team a 36-32 lead at intermission.
The two teams went back and forth in the second half as Phillips came alive to score 10 of his 17 points while Reed, Albert Abrams and Elliott countered to keep the visitors in the game.
Leary finished with 21 points, Phillips with 17 and Kyle Riley with 11.
In addition to Reed's game-high 23, Abrams and Elliot each scored 10.

Coppin State Tops Delaware State, 89-72

BALTIMORE -- Michael Harper led four players in double figures with 25 points and Coppin State shot 60.0 percent from the floor in an 89-72 MEAC victory over Delaware State on Monday at the Physical Education Complex.
The Eagles (14-12, 9-4 MEAC) shot a season-high 60.0 percent from the floor making 33-of-55 shots from the field. The Eagles shot 58.3 percent in the first half and 61.3 percent in the second half.
Harper was 9-of-15 from the field including 6-of-9 from three-point range to lead the Eagles to their ninth win in the last 13 games.
Antonio Williams and Michael Murray each had 16 points and Vince Goldsberry added 14 points for Coppin State.
Delaware State (9-17, 5-8 MEAC) was led by Desi Washington who had 26 points.
