Florida State handed the Florida A&M their first loss of the season as they defeated the Lady Rattlers, 8-5 Tuesday evening at JoAnne Graf Field.
Both FAMU (4-1) and FSU () finished with nine hits and two errors each.
Morgan Bullock (2-0) picked up the win for the FSU as she pitched two and one-third innings giving one hit, one run, one earned run and striking out two.
Whitney Robinson (2-1) received the loss for the Lady Rattlers as she gave up seven hits, six hits, four earned runs a striking out one in four innings of work.
FAMU was paced by Robinson as she went a perfect three-for-three from the plate with one RBI, while scoring one run, followed by Tera Gainer with two hits.
Robin Ahrberg and Celeste Gomez paced FSU as they both finished with two hits each for the Lady Seminoles.
The Lady Rattlers struck first blood in the top of the first inning as Tenisha Dixon scored on a Robinson single up the middle, followed by a Gainer single through the left side scoring Robinson, giving FAMU a 2-0 lead.
Tiffani Brown cut the FAMU's lead to 2-1 as she scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first.
FAMU picked up a pair of runs in the top of the second inning to take a 4-1 lead as Christina Robbs scored on a Robinson single, followed a FSU's infielders error scoring Dixon.
In the top of the third inning, FAMU would take an advantage of a Francesca Singletary triple as she scored on an Ericka Garcia sacrifice fly to center field, giving the Lady Rattlers a 5-1 advantage.
FSU in the bottom of the third inning would plate three runs to cut FAMU's lead to 5-4 on a pair of triples scoring Briana Hamilton on a Shayla Jackson triple. Then both Hamilton and Jackson would score on a Celeste Gomez triple down the left field line.
The Lady Seminole would take advantage of two FAMU errors in the bottom of the fourth to take 6-5 lead.
Then a Kelly Hensley homer in the bottom of the sixth would score two more runs for FSU for the 8-5 win.
