Pirates' Woes Continue In Road Loss To Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The woes of the Hampton University men's basketball team continued Tuesday night, as the Pirates fell 64-54 to Robert Morris at the Sewall Center. 
 
Hampton (4-8) lost its fourth game in a row, and its sixth straight road game, as the Pirates woes continued against Robert Morris (9-3). Despite shooting 40 percent (20-for-50) from the floor, a tough second half hurt the Pirates.
  
The Pirates were led by Bruce, who recorded his third double-double of the season with a team-high 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Pellum also scored in double figures for Hampton with 11.
 
Robert Morris was guided by Velton Jones, who led three other Colonials in double figures with a game-high 18 points. Also scoring in double figures for Robert Morris were Lucky Jones with 16, Mike McFadden with 11 and Coron Williams, who finished with 10.

Oregon Uses Late Run To Pull Away From Eagles

EUGENE, Ore. -North Carolina Central University fell to the University of Oregon 58-45 on Tuesday night in the first of three games in the 2011 Global Sports Hoops Showcase at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore.
   
NCCU forced 8 first-half turnovers and outscored the host Ducks 12-4 in points off the bench as Ingram led the Eagles with 8 points.
 
Willis led the Eagles with 11 points, but had to earn it going 5-for-21 from the field.  The junior nearly recorded his second double-double falling one rebound shy.  Ingram ended the night with 10 points off the bench and gave NCCU a huge spark in the first half.
 
NCCU actually out-rebounded the larger Duck squad 38-37 that included a combined seven offensive rebounds by Willis (4), Ingram (3).
 
Three Oregon Ducks (7-3) finished in double figures, with Sim and Singler finishing with 13 points apiece.

O'Quinn's Late Bucket Gives Spartans 1st Ever Win over MAC Opponent

TOLEDO, Ohio - Kyle O'Quinn scored off an inbound pass from Pendarvis Williams with 2.4 seconds left to break a tie and give Norfolk State a 72-70 win at Toledo's Savage Hall on Tuesday night, the Spartans' first-ever win in three tries against Mid-American Conference opposition.

Williams led NSU with 17 points, O'Quinn had 16 points, nine rebounds and five blocks, and Chris McEachin scored 15 points. The trio combined to make 22 of their 36 field goal attempts.

Pugh was the fourth Spartan in double figures, scoring 10 points for the second time in his first three games at NSU. Curtis Dennis led Toledo with 20 points (17 in the first half), Pearson had 16, and Reese Holliday added 11.
