SC State Women Down UNC-A 92-82 for Second Straight Win
Orangeburg, SC - South Carolina State built a 26 point lead early in the second half, then beat back a furious rally by UNC-Asheville in earning a 92-82 victory over the visitors Monday in a non-conference contest at Claflin's Tullis Arena.
Juniors Lauren Johnson, Tiana Hemphill and Trinese Fox, all of which came off the bench, tossed in 13 points each to lead SC State. Starters Tracy Flowers, a senior, and junior Tiara Knotts, who left the game with an injury with 16:32 to play, contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Hemphill also pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds - nine on the offensive end -- for Robertson's team, which enjoyed a 41-25 advantage on the boards.
Freshmen Kourtney Williams, who scored the team's first four points, and London Richardson tossed in eight and seven points, respectively, for the Lady Bulldogs, who also got nine points and six assists from starting point guard Cabriel Duren and eight points and six boards from starting center Paris Alston.

Lady Pirates Winning Streak Snapped at UAB
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hampton University women's basketball team suffered just its second loss of the season on Monday, as the Lady Pirates fell 43-38 to UAB in a defensive struggle at the Bartow Arena.
Hampton (7-2) had its five-game winning streak snapped, while UAB (8-2) won its seventh straight contest. The game matched the nation's fourth-best scoring defense in UAB (47.8 ppg) against the fifth-best scoring defense in Hampton (48.0 ppg).
Senior guard Jericka Jenkins (Lancaster, Texas) led the Lady Pirates with 13 points, while also tallying three assists to tie Jackie Dolberry for second on the all-time career assists list with 449. Senior forward Melanie Warner (Tallahassee, Fla.) added 10 points.
Junior forwards Keiara Avant (Chesapeake, Va.) and Delia Brunson (Stone Mountain, Ga.) each pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
UAB shot 31.8 percent (14-for-44) from the floor and out-rebounded Hampton 41-32.
Chapman led UAB with 15 points, while Pratt added 10 points.

Arkansas Hands Morgan State Fourth Straight Loss, 81-50
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -Lyndsay Harris came off the bench and scored a game-high 14 points and Ashley Daniels added 12 points to lead host Arkansas to an 81-50 non-conference victory over Morgan State on Monday evening at Bud Walton Arena.
Sarah Watkins chipped in with 11 points and Erin Gatling came off the bench and also added 11 -points, while Quistelle Williams pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds and had a game-high three blocks for the Razorbacks (9-1), who improved to 6-0 at home this season.
Morgan State (2-6) was led by Tracey Carrington, who came off the bench and scored a team-high 10 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Whitney Southerland and Omara Parker each added eight points for the Lady Bears, who have now lost a season long four consecutive games.
The Lady Bears forced 20 Arkansas turnovers, while committing 11 themselves. The Razorbacks out-rebounded Morgan State, 64-39 for the game.
