Wailuku, Maui - North Carolina A&T rebounded from its worst loss of the season to play one its strongest games this month. But Hawaii scored 12 consecutive points down the stretch to defeat the Aggies 65-57 Sunday evening at War Memorial Gym.
Marc Hill led the Aggies with 17 points. DaMetrius Upchurch had 11 points and six rebounds. The Aggies, who are on a six-game, two-week road trip, had their best showing of the road trip. It came three days after the Aggies endured an 84-45 loss to St. Mary's.
The Rainbows put together their 12-0 run led by Stokes who had five points during the run, including a 3-point play. Hawaii's spurt gave the Rainbows a 61-48 advantage with 3:23 remaining. Consecutive threes by Hill and Adrian Powell got the lead down to six, but free throws sealed the win for Hawaii (5-4).
Stokes had 19 points for the Rainbows. Vander Joaquim added 16. The Rainbows shot attempted 19 more free throws than the Aggies.
