St. Mary's  Uses The Three To Defeat  North Carolina A&T

Moraga, Calif. - St. Mary's almost made as many threes as North Carolina A&T had made field goals in an 84-45 blowout of the Aggies at McKeon Pavilion.

Matt Dellavedova led the way for the Gaels with 20 points on 4-for-9 shooting from 3-point range. Clint Steindl and Jorden Page had 17 points apiece. They also hit five 3-pointers apiece. More than half the Gaels shot attempts came from beyond the arc.

Dellavedova, an Australian native, got the Gaels the lead in the first half with a trio of 3-pointers to break up a 5-5 tie five minutes into the contest.  From there, St. Mary's extended their lead, evenly distributing the ball and finding scorers in senior leader Rob Jones and sophomore guard Stephen Holt.  The Gaels had a 36-20 lead at the half.

DaMetrius Upchurch and Marc Hill had 10 points apiece. The Aggies finished with 18 made field goals, while the Gaels ended the game with 16 3-pointers.

Oregon State's Hot Shooting Too Much For Howard

Corvallis, OR- Ahmad Starks scored a game-high 22 points to lead four players in double figures as Oregon State used some torrid shooting and an inside advantage to defeat Howard, 93-72 in a non-conference men's game at the Gill Coliseum.

The Bison (3-8) played without the services of leading scorer Calvin Thompson, who is nursing a groin injury. They were not able to match the marksmanship of Oregon State, which hit on 53 percent from the field in the opening period.  Howard missed 19 of 28 shots and lost the battle in the paint, 18-8.

Freshmen Prince Okoroh and Brandon Ford each tallied 13 points while Andrews finished with 11.  Ford's totals were a career high for him.  Mike Phillips contributed 8 points and 8 rebounds and Trey Lee, another transfer (from Coastal Carolina) saw his first action and tallied 6 points and 6 rebounds.
