SSU's Kalu Scores 35 In Win Over North Florida
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Savannah State out-scored North Florida 9-6 in overtime as the Lady Tigers improved to 2-0 with a 64-61 win over UNF in UNF Arena.
The crowd of 3,461 saw the Ospreys battle back from a 10 point second half deficit to send the game into an extra period tied at 55.
During the overtime, Ezinnee Kalu scored five of her game-high 35 points while Uba Blessing added four points.
SSU jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first half and led by as many as nine points with six minutes left before the half.
The Ospreys answered with a 9-0 run to tie the game at 22 with 2:45 on the clock.
A 3-pointer by Kalu and a jumper by Blessing gave SSU a 27-22 edge with 1:23 left but North Florida's Larkira Jones made a free throw with 1:03 left and SSU went into the half with a 27-23 advantage.
The Lady Tigers stretched their lead to 34-25 with 17:49 left in the second period and led 43-33 at the 11:30 mark after Kalu hit a 3-pointer.
SSU would go without a field goal until the final seconds which UNF battled back to slice their deficit to 43-40 with 8:37 remaining but four free throws from Jasmine Kirkland gave SSU a 47-40 cushion.
Trailing 48-41, UNF (0-3) went on a 12-2 run to take a 53-50 with 2:02 remaining.
A trio of free throws by Kalu would tie the game at 53 with 44 seconds left.
UNF's Fabiola Josil made a layup with 20 seconds left for a 55-53 lead but Kalu tied the game at 55 with 14 ticks remaining.
Brittany Kirkland missed a jumper for the Ospreys at the buzzer and the game went into overtime.
Kalu made 10 of 22 shots from the floor, 5 of 10 of her 3-point attempts and 10 of 16 free throw attempts.
Blessing added 17 points for SSU.
The Lady Tigers shot 43.5 percent from the floor in the first half but slipped to go 7 of 20 from the field in the second period.

Costly NCCU Turnovers Provide 59-41 Campbell Victory
DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) - In the Thursday, Nov. 17 matchup against Campbell, North Carolina Central suffered a 59-41 loss off of 31 turnovers in McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.
Senior Blaire Houston finished with her first double-figure outing of the season with 12 points, while junior Chasidy Williams concluded the contest with 10 points. Williams pulled down five boards, distributed two assists and stole four CU possessions.
Tonisha Baker, who finished as the second leading Lady Camel scorer with 13 points, created trouble for NCCU below the three-point arc. At the 17:03 mark, Baker sinked a jumper and followed up with a layup at the 16:31 mark to increase the margin to 16 points for a score of 35-19.
Campbell seized the win on 39 percent from the field on 26-of-66, 13 percent from behind the arc, and 55 percent from the free-throw line, 6-of-11. Cooperatively, the Lady Camels also grabbed 40 rebounds, while distributing 16 assists, blocking three shots and stealing 18 NCCU possessions.

Bethune-Cookman Falls to UNF
TAMPA - Jasmine Wynne and Akila McDonald combined for 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead a balanced USF scoring effort that led to a 72-36 victory over Bethune-Cookman Thursday night in the USf Rec Center.
The Bulls (3-2) held B-CU (1-1) to one field goal in the final 6:08 of the first half to open up a 37-11 halftime lead.
Austen Harris scored all nine of her points in the second half to lead B-CU. Jasmine Elum scored eight - five in the opening five minutes- and Sharnese Neal added five points and five rebounds. Amber Antoine was B-CU's high rebounder with six.
