MEAC Announces Volleyball Weekly Honors

Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Maline Vaitai was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Teammate Saitaua Iosia earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Vaitai (6-0, So., OH, Salt Lake City, Utah) aided the Lady Hawks in two conference victories last week with 27 kills on 71 attacks. Against Norfolk State, Vaitai added one block, three aces and six digs. She followed with three blocks and five digs in a win over Hampton to en route to an undefeated mark of 12-0 in conference play. 

Iosia (5-10, Fr., OH, Long Beach, Calif.) totaled 33 kills and 15 digs in two matches for the Lady Hawks. In a 3-0 win over Norfolk State, the rookie recorded her 400th kill of the season and added five digs and two blocks. She followed that performance with her 11th double-double of the season with 12 kills and 10 digs in a win over Hampton.

Other Top Performers:

Erin Cox (MSU) totaled eight kills and eight blocks in a win over Howard.

Jessica Croucher (DSU) combined for 19 kills, 17 digs and four aces to aid the Hornets to a 1-1 mark last week.

Beatriz Ferreira (NSU) posted 18 kills in two matches for the Spartans.

Krista Kraskura (Hampton) recorded her ninth double-double of the season at Maryland Eastern Shore.

Saitaua Iosia (UMES) recorded her 11th double-double of the year with 12 kills and 10 digs in a win over Hampton.

Adriana Ramos (NSU) combined for 17 kills, five digs and two aces in two matches for the Spartans.   


Theresa Schieder (DSU)
posted a career-high 15 kills and a team season-high .652 attack percentage against Hampton.

Zuri Smith (MSU) recorded a .400 attack percentage with four kills, two blocks and two digs against Howard. 
 

Desiree Waller (SCSU) averaged 14 kills and 5.5 digs in two matches for the Lady Bulldogs.
