Hampton Women Win Cross Country Championship

Hampton's women's cross country teams won the 2011 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Championship title Saturday morning at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Md.

The Hampton Lady Pirates scored 53 points to win their second consecutive crown and fourth overall. The Lady Pirates averaged a time of 19:38.11 on the 5K course.

Bethune-Cookman junior Kadian Dunkley crossed the tape first with a time of 18:43.61 to earn Outstanding Performer honors. As a team the Lady Wildcats finished in 10th place.

Hampton's Maurice Pierce earned Outstanding Coach accolades in cross country for the fourth time in his career.

Second place honors went to Florida A&M. The Lady Rattlers scored 58 total points. Maryland Eastern Shore (99), Morgan State (156) and Norfolk State (162) completed the top five finishes.
