MEAC Announces Volleyball Weekly Honors

South Carolina State University junior Shabree Roberson was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.  Maryland Eastern Shore's Saitaua Iosia earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Roberson (6-1, r-Jr.,  Pflugerville, Texas) hit 51.7-percent from the floor in three Lady Bulldog victories last week. The hitter averaged a 75.7 hitting percentage in conference wins over North Carolina A&T and North Carolina Central. For the week, Roberson totaled 36 kills, three aces and one assist. She added five digs and five blocks for the defensive effort.

Iosia (5-10, Fr., OH, Long Beach, Calif.)  led the Lady Hawks in two conference victories last week. The outsider hitter totaled 21 attacks on 43 total attempts (.372).  In a win over Hampton, Iosia hit .444 from the floor and added eight digs in the defensive effort.  She followed that performance with 11 kills, four digs, one assist and one ace in a 3-0 sweep of Norfolk State.


Other Top Performers:

Charlotte Armstead (NSU) tallied 20 attacks on 40 attempts and added five blocks in two matches last week. 


Edarkis Branch (DSU)
totaled 13 kills and 13 digs in two matches for the Lady Hornets.


Maria Ceccareli (FAMU)
combined for 41 kills and 24 digs in three matches for the Lady Rattlers.


Jessica Coucher (DSU)
recorded a season high 21 kills and added 12 digs in a 3-2 loss to Hampton.

Jeana Daniels (NCAT)
posted 13 kills and five digs to aid the Lady Aggies in their first win of the season.

Lihi Elkayam (Hampton)
broke the school record for career assists and recorded a season-high 44 assists in a win over Delaware State.

Tosin Elebute (Howard)
totaled 46 kills and 24 digs in two matches for the Lady Bison.

Krista Kraskura (Hampton) recorded her sixth double-double of the season in a win over Delaware State.

Kaveinga Lea'Aetoa (UMES) hit 52-percent from the field with 16 kills on 25 attacks for the Lady Hawks.

Rebecca Prado (UMES) recorded her 1,000th career dig in a 3-0 win over Hampton.

Adriana Ramos (NSU) combined for 21 kills and 21 digs to aid the Spartans to a 1-1 mark last week. 

Emanuelle Santos (NCCU) recorded a double-double of 14 kills and 16 digs in a win over Savannah State.
