Morgan State, Delaware State To Compete In 2011 BracketBusters

ESPN announced today that Morgan State will host Virginia Military Institute and the Delaware State will face Tennessee State in the ninth annual BracketBusters' scheduled for Feb. 18-20.

BracketBusters is a three-day event that pits potential NCAA Tournament hopefuls against each other. It features 11 nationally televised games - on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.  In addition to the MEAC's two representatives the 114-team field features teams from 14 conferences.

The defending MEAC champion Morgan State Bears will host the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Keydets at the Hill Field House in Baltimore, Md.  Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. on Feb. 19. The Bears are competing in BracketBusters for the third consecutive year and will serve as host for the first time. MSU is 1-1 in the event after defeating Towson, 80-64, in 2009 and falling to Murray State, 75-66, in 2010.

Morgan State is 9-9 overall and 5-2 in MEAC play this season.  VMI, a member of the Big South Conference, enters the game 12-8 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

The Delaware State Hornets, last year's MEAC regular season runners-up, will travel to Nashville, Tennessee and face the Tennessee State Tigers at the Gentry Centeron Feb. 19 at 3 p.m. The Hornets are 8-11 and 4-3 in the MEAC. 

Tennessee State, a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), is 10-11 and 7-4 in the OVC. The Tigers lost to Eastern Kentucky, 86-72, in their last outing.
