MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

Florida A&M forward Antonia Bennett was named the MEAC Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Hampton's Nicole Hamilton received Rookie of the Week honors, while Delaware State's Brittany Washington earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Bennett (Guard/Forward, 6-0, Jr.  Lakeland, Florida) averaged 21.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists to aid her team to a 2-0 record last week. In an 80-75 win over Howard, Bennett tied her career-mark of 27 points while shooting 4-of-9 from the 3-point range. She recorded a double-double (15 points, 11 rebounds) against Delaware State adding three assists, three steals and one block in the 66-56 victory.

Hamilton (Guard, 5-8, Fr., Hampton, Virginia) averaged 20.0 points for the Lady Pirates last week as they went 1-1 against North Carolina A&T and Bethune-Cookman. She recorded a career-high 23 points went 7-for-16 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the free-throw line against North Carolina A&T. Hamilton also grabbed five rebounds and stole five passes in the victory. She finished the week with 40 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and one block.

Washington (Forward/Center, 6-2, Sr., Upper Marlboro, Maryland) totaled 22 rebounds, four blocks, two steals and one assist in two games for the Lady Hornets. Against Florida A&M Washington grabbed 13 boards, blocked two shots and stole one pass. Following her FAMU performance, she recorded nine rebounds, two blocks and one steal against Delaware State.

Other Top Performers:

Jasmine Daniels (B-CU) posted 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and added one steal in a 55-51 conference win over Hampton.

Jasmine Grice (FAMU) averaged 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in two games for the Lady Rattlers.

Saadia Doyle (How) recorded 26 points and 13 rebounds against Florida A&M.

Casey Morton (UMES) scored a career-high 26 points in a 66-56 win against Coppin State.

Kwinnyata Mercer (UMES) combined for 29 points and 10 rebounds in three games for the Lady Hawks.

Jaquayla Berry (NCAT) posted 31 points and 10 steals in a 94-71 win over South Carolina State.
