Savannah State Pair Combine for 46 in 62-52 Defeat of UMES

Ezinne Kalu and Darice Fountaine combined for 46 points and Savannah State erased a four-point halftime deficit as the Lady Tigers of Savannah State (SSU)  defeated Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), 62-52, at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center on Wednesday evening.

Kalu finished with 27 points on 8-for-16 shooting and Fountaine had 19 on 8-of-14 from the floor for SSU (10-8), which completed a season sweep of UMES (5-12) with the win. The loss ended UMES' two-game winning streak.

UMES received a team-high 15 points and three assists from Casey Morton while Kwinnyata Mercer tallied 11 points and one steal off the bench.

Savannah State outscored UMES, 38-24, in the second half for the win, finishing the game 22-for-45 (48.9 percent) from the field.
