MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Honors

Florida A&M forward Antonia Bennett was named the MEAC Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Bethune-Cookman's Amanda Hairston earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Hampton's Quanneisha Perry earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Bennett (Guard/Forward, 6-0, Jr.  Lakeland, Florida) averaged 19 points, eight rebounds and two steals while shooting 52-percent from the floor (15-of-29) and 50-percent from the charity stripe (4-of-8) for the week. Bennett posted 26 points, six rebounds and one steal hitting 4-of-5 from the 3-point line against Maryland Eastern Shore. She also posted a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) adding three steals in a conference win over Norfolk State.

Hairston (Forward, 6-0, Fr., Greensboro, North Carolina) posted 25 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and six steals as the Lady Wildcats finished 1-1 mark last week. Leading her team in scoring against North Carolina A&T, Hairston recorded 17 points, five rebounds and five steals adding one block for the night. Averaging 12.5 points and 6 rebounds per game, Hairston also shot 69-percent from the field for the week.

Perry (Forward, 5-10, Sr., Decatur, Georgia) Perry recorded 18 rebounds and finished the week averaging 13.0 rebounds and 8.0 points.  Perry posted a double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) in a 75-54 conference win over Norfolk State.  She grabbed a game-high 15 boards against Morgan State and also added one block and one steal in the pair of conference wins.

Nicole Hamilton (Ham) averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in two games for the Lady Pirates

Jasmine Daniels (B-CU) recorded 17 points, collected six rebounds, and blocked three shots in a win over Delaware State.

Qiana Donald (FAMU) posted a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) adding one block and two steals against Maryland Eastern Shore.

Crystal Washington
(CSU) averaged 15.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 0.5 blocked shots for the week in two games.

Larissa Carter (CSU) scored six points, pulled down five rebounds, and blocked three shots in a 59-47 non-conference win against North Carolina Central.

Sarah Daily (NSU) averaged 17.5 points and 5.0 rebounds and shot a combined 48.3-percent from the field against Florida A&M and Hampton.

Rachel Gordon (NSU) shot 57.1-percent from the field averaging 8.0 points per game for the week in two games.

Kwinnyata Mercer (UMES) recorded 10 points, seven rebounds and stole five passes in a 48-47 win over North Carolina Central.

Shanyce Steward (UMES) totaled 12 points while shooting a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe in an overtime loss to Delaware State. 

Latoya Buckner (UMES) shot a perfect 5-of-5 from the 3-point line adding nine rebounds and three blocks in a loss to Delaware State

Fannie Goodwin (SCSU) averaged a double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds) as the Lady Bulldogs went 1-1 in conference play for the week. 

Saadia Doyle (How) recorded a double-double (29 points, 15 rebounds) in a 69-53 conference win over North Carolina A&T
