Norfolk State Travels to Washington, DC to Face Howard on ESPNU

The Howard Bison will host the Norfolk State Spartans in a televised men's basketball game on Monday night (Jan. 17). Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. with the game airing live on ESPNU.  

Howard (2-14, 0-4) dropped its sixth consecutive game with a 78-65 defeat to North Carolina A&T in their last outing. Dadrian Collins scored a team-high 17 points and Kyle Riley and Anton Dickerson added 13 and 12, respectively, against the Aggies.

Norfolk State (2-13, 1-3) loss its third conference game of the season on Saturday afternoon in a 63-56 loss to Hampton.
Kyle O'Quinn led the Spartans with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Aleek Pauline added 17 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

The teams split their two meetings last season, with each winning on the other's home floor. Howard took an 82-77 decision in a ESPNU televised game on Jan. 18, 2010 in Echols Hall, while the Spartans evened the series with a 72-52 win on Feb. 15, 2010 at Burr Gymnasium.

The Norfolk State/Howard matchup is the third MEAC televised basketball game of the season and is a part of the conference's seven-year partnership with ESPN.  The defending MEAC Champion Morgan State Bears defeated South Carolina State 71-55, in an ESPN2 telecast Saturday afternoon.  Bethune-Cookman topped the North Carolina A&, 72-69, in the first men's basketball telecast of the season on Jan. 10.

The television action continues on Monday, January 24 in Norfolk Virginia with the Spartans hosting the South Carolina State. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. on ESPNU. 

The 2011 MEAC Championship Tournament will also air on the ESPN networks with the women's championship game scheduled for a taped-delayed telecast airing on March 13 at 11 a.m. on ESPNU while the men's championship game will televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 2 p.m. on March 12.
