Norfolk State sophomores
Vincent Rono and
Kellen Rutto were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Rono (So., Bomet, Kenya) won the UMES Lid Lifter Invite with a time of 25:30.19. His time aided the Spartans to a second place finish out of four competing teams on the 8K course.
Rutto (So., Eldoret, Kenya) paced the Spartans with a time of 19:31.75 at the UMES Lid Lifter Invite. Rutto won the 5K race and guided her team to a second place finish.

Cynthia Anais (UMES) was eighth at the UMES Lid Lifter Invite in 20:56.72.
Chandelic Barnes (FAMU) helped her team to a fourth place finish with a time of 12:57.68 at the Troy University Invite.
Jasmin Branch (Hampton) earned a second place finish with a time of 19:44.32 at the UMES Lid Lifter Invite.
David Kimani (Hampton) finished 21st at the UMES Lid Lifter Invite with a time of 26:03.60.
Basil Melek (UMES) was among the top ten finishers at the UMES Lid Lifter Invite in 26:07.51.
Christian Smooth (MSU) finished 11
th overall with a time of 16:57.22 on the 5K course to help the Bears to a second place finish at the Baltimore Metro Meet.
Brittney Stewart (SCSU) finished among the top 20 at the Gamecock Invitational with a time of 19:46.84.
Shuaib Winters (FAMU) earned a second place finish at the Troy University Invite with a time of 16:04.50 on the 5K course.
