MEAC Announces Cross Country Honors

Norfolk State sophomore Kellen Rutto and junior  Josef Tessema were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Rutto (So., Eldoret, Kenya) took home second place accolades at the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge, hosted by William & Mary. She finished the 4K course in 15:11 and guided her team to a third place finish.

Tessema (Jr., Springfield, Virginia) won the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge, hosted by #4 William & Mary. Tessema paced the #8 Spartans with a time of 18:27 on the 6K race. As a team, NSU finished first among five teams.

Other Top Performers:

Cynthia Anais (UMES) was seventh at the Towson Invite with a time of 19:54.80 on the 5K course.

Clarricia Golden (FAMU) paced the Lady Rattlers and won the Morehouse Invite with a time of 20:55.90.

David Kimani (Hampton) took home an eighth place finish in 18:55.00 at the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge.

Basil Melek (UMES) finished in third place with a time of 25:58.83 on the 8K course at the Towson Invite.

Dashera Richardson (DSU) ran a 19:55.30 on the 5K course and finished in eighth place at the Towson Invite.

Brittney Stewart (SCSU) was among the top ten at the Citadel Invite with a time of 19:41.50.

Devyn Thomspon (Hampton) guided her team to a second place finish in 15:18 at the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge, hosted by William & Mary.

Shuaib Winters (FAMU) won the Morehouse Invite with a time of 28:17.99 on the 8K course.
