Campbell Outlasts NCCU To Take 3-0 Win

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - In a head-to-head battle that looked as if North Carolina Central would prevail and keep its streak alive, Campbell had their own conclusion as they outlasts the Eagles in volleyball action Tuesday night to take a 3-0 win at the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center.

Campbell had to fight hard to claim the win as they were pushed to the limit by the aggressive Eagles, who eventually allowed the Camels to sweep the day by scores of 26-24, 25-11 and 25-23. NCCU dropped to 2-13 on the year, while Campbell improved to 5-11.

Eagle power hitter Belinda Behncke-Biney showed her strength and proved to be unstoppable as she recorded a match-high 15 kills to go along with a .225 clip. She also contributed six digs on the defensive end of the net. Her effectiveness was due to the consistency of freshman setter Jzima-Malaki Kalao, who had a match-high 27 dishes.

Aggies Come Up Short Against Wofford

GREENSBORO - North Carolina A&T came close to extending their Tuesday night match against Wofford to four games, thus giving them a chance to steal a victory from the Terriers. But Wofford went on a scoring spree in the third set to down the Aggies 3-0 (25-18, 14, 22) at Corbett Sports Center.

Freshmen Mia Gray and Chelsea Fox had six kills apiece. Freshman Jeana Daniels added five kills, seven digs and five blocks. Stacy Byrd led the Terriers with nine kills.

The youthful Aggies showed signs of how bright their future can be with a strong performance in the third. But it was senior Amber Inman who got the Aggies going. After a Reagan Styles service error gave the Aggies a 13-12 lead, Inman used her serves to put together two straight aces to pull the Aggies ahead by three. Daniels completed the Aggies 4-0 run with a block of Wendy Burnett.

N.C. A&T kept Wofford (10-7) at a distance as Fox's kill gave the Aggies a 19-15 lead. But the Terriers halted the Aggies breakthrough moment. The Terriers used an 8-0 run that included services aces, kills and a few attack errors from the Aggies to take a 23-19 advantage.

Sophomore Andrea Evans kept the Aggies alive with a solo block, but an Arden Anderson kill ended the set at 25-22.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - It was right there for the LadyCats, each set hit a point where they were in control, Tuesday night at Moore Gymnasium, facing the Dolphins of Jacksonville.
