MEAC Announces Volleyball Weekly Honors

South Carolina State junior Bria Brimmer was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Maryland Eastern Shore's Kaveingna Lea'Aetoa earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Brimmer (5-5, Jr., S, Austin, Texas) led her team to a 3-1 mark last week and earned all-tournament team honors at the S.C. State Spikefest.  The setter dished out 135 assists, 24 digs, seven blocks and eight aces for the week, while hitting 11-for-32 from the floor.  

Lea' Aetoa (5-11, Fr., OH, Salt Lake City, Utah) earned all-tournament honors and aided the Lady Hawks to a 2-1 record last week at the Kristin Dickmann Memorial Tournament, hosted by Navy. Lea'Aetoa hit 31-percent from the floor with 43 kills and seven digs. In a win over Navy, the outside hitter tallied a match and MEAC season high eight blocks along with 16 kills, three digs and two aces.

Alexis Bliese
(BCU) recorded 106 assists and added 14 digs in 11 sets to assist the LadyCats to a 2-1 mark at the B-CU Beach Bash Invite.

Dominque Bozier (MSU) averaged 8.6 kills and three blocks per match at the UNC-Greensboro tournament last week.

Ngebui Chafeh (MSU) totaled 13 kills, 46 assists, 16 digs and seven blocks in three matches for the Lady Bears.

Samantha Chukwura (UMES) hit 37-percent from the floor (30-for-68) and added five digs and 7.5 blocks to aid the Lady Hawks to a 2-1 mark last week.

Maria Ceccarelli (FAMU) totaled 24 kills and 19 digs in three matches for the Lady Rattlers.

Keri Partridge (Howard) was 6-for-8 from the floor and added three blocks and two aces against American.

Kaiyana Johnson (B-CU) totaled 23 kills, five digs, seven blocks and four aces in three matches for the LadyCats last weekend.

Arielle Knafel (NSU) recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 21 digs in a win over Gardner-Webb.

Ellica Morris (NSU) was just shy of a double-double with 21 kills and nine digs in a win over Gardner-Webb.

Brooke Redmon (DSU) hit 39-percent from the floor and tallied 11 kills in a win over Lafayette.

Desire Waller (SCSU) posted 27 kills and 11 blocks for the Lady Bulldogs in four matches.

Sarah Wheatcroft (DSU) guided her team to a 3-0 mark at the Lafayette College Invite with 29 kills, 36 digs, seven blocks and two aces.
