MEAC Announces Volleyball Weekly Honors

Maryland Eastern Shore junior Zoe Bowens was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Teammate Maline Vaitai earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Bowens (5-10, Jr., OH, Long Beach, California) led her team to a 2-1 mark last week at the Rhode Island Invite.  The outside hitter totaled 35 kills, 11 digs, six aces and six assists for the week, while hitting 22-percent from the floor.

Vaitai (6-0, Fr., OH, Salt Lake City, Utah) aided the Lady Hawks to a 2-1 record last week. Vaitai recorded 40 kills, 15 digs and two blocks during the three matches.  

Other Top Performers:


Ngebui Chafeh
(MSU) averaged 15.3 assists in three matches for the Lady Bears.

Jeana Daniels (NCAT) posted 27 kills, 15 digs and 11 blocks in five contests for the Lady Aggies.

Paige Gary-Canty (NSU) recorded three aces and seven digs in a loss to The Citadel.

Ashley Johnson (MSU) notched a team-leading 27 kills, 32 digs and two aces in three matches in the Cleveland State Invitational.


Shabree Roberson (SCSU) hit 40-percent from the floor in a loss to South Carolina.

Sarah Wheatcroft (DSU) posted 34 kills and 44 digs in three matches for the Lady Hornets.
