MEAC Announces Weekly Volleyball Honors

 Delaware State University senior Sarah Wheatcroft was selected as the MEAC Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Norfolk State's Noelle Eagles earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Wheatcroft (6-1, Sr., OH, Newmarket, Ontario) led her team to a 2-2 mark at the Hilton RTP/NCCU Volleyball Tournament. The outside hitter tallied 36 kills, 32 digs and 15 assists during four matches, including a double-double of 15 kills and 16 digs in a 3-1 win over Charleston Southern.

Eagles (5-9, Fr., L, Richmond, Indiana) posted 84 digs in four matches to aid the Spartans to a 2-2 record last week. Eagles set a school single-match record of 30 digs in a 3-2 loss to UNC-Greensboro. She added four aces and 12 assists for the week.

Other Top Performers:

Dina Beamon (MSU) was named to the Courtyard by Marriott Invite All-Tournament team after notching 66 digs in four matches.

Zoe Bowens (UMES) totaled 62 kills and 26 digs in four matches for the Lady Hawks last week.

Jessica Croucher (DSU) tallied two double-double performances to assist the Lady Hornets to a 2-2 mark at the Hilton RTP/NCCU Volleyball Tournament.

Tosin Elebute (How) tallied 24 kills and 18 digs in three matches at the West Virginia Classic.

Arielle Knafel (NSU) recorded two double-double performances (23 kills, 15 digs and 17 kills, 23 digs) to aid the Spartans to a 2-2 mark last week.

Shabree Robinson (SCSU) recorded 14 kills and five blocks in a 3-2 non-conference win against Maryland Eastern Shore.

Maline Vaitai
(UMES) totaled 58 kills, 31 digs and five aces for the Lady Hawks in four matches last week.

Desire Waller (SCSU) hit .206 from the floor (32-of-87) and posted 15 blocks and three digs  in four matches for the Lady Bulldogs.
