Delaware State?s Reid Named to All-Region Team

 

Dover, Del. - Delaware State University sophomore Jordan Reid has collected another honor for her play this season. Reid has been named to the 2010 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I All-Region Team. Reid was named the All-Mid Atlantic Second Team.

A total of 256 players from 116 different institutions comprise this season's regional teams, including first and second teams for each region. Reid is the only Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) player on the list this year.

A native of Accokeek, Md., Reid was also selected as the 2010 MEAC Player-of-the-Year. In addition, she was named to the 2010 MEAC All-Tournament Team.

Reid was tops in the MEAC, and ninth among all NCAA Division I players, with a .457 batting average during the 2010 regular season. She also led the MEAC in on-base percentage this season (.500). In addition, Reid is 24th in the nation in runs per game (1.0 pg) and 47th in stolen bases (0.51 pg).

She is the fourth Delaware State player to earn Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Region honors, joining Patty Brown (2000), Janice Savage (2004) and Catrina Ansbach (2006).

The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees are now eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams. In addition, conference pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams were added for All-America consideration.
