The third-seeded Florida women's tennis team earned an impressive 4-0 victory against South Carolina State in the first round of the NCAA Championship on Friday afternoon at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex.

The Lady Bulldogs (13-6) started off slow and never recovered, losing the doubles point to the Lady Gators (25-2). No. 1 Marritt Boonstra/Allie Will defeated Daria Sekerina/Maria Craciun and  No.2 Lauren Embree/Joanna Mather defeated Beate Valdmane//Laura Bsneag  to earn the doubles point.

"It was a tough match. Obviously Florida is a great team," stated SC State coach Hardeep Judge. "We were pretty banged up going into our conference tournament and just haven't really recovered and it really showed with our movement on the court."

In singles action,  No. 2  Allie Will currently ranked eight in  the country  defeated Fanni Fricska 6-0, 6-0, No. 4 Joanna Mather defeated  Sarai Torres 6-0, 6-0 and No. 6 Claire Barlett defeated I-Chun Amy Chen 6-0, 6-0.

South Carolina State men will face the Florida  in a Noon showdown in the first-round of the NCAA Tournament Championships.
