The Morgan State Bears clinched their third straight regular season title with a 65-61 win over Maryland Eastern Shore (Feb. 20). The Bears will enter tournament play as the No. 1 seed and will face the winner of the No. 8/No.9 matchup on Wednesday, March 10 beginning at 7 p.m.
The Delaware State Hornets will battle Maryland Eastern Shore for the conference's sole runners-up position tonight. A win over the Hawks would secure the Hornets as the 2010 runners-up while a loss would give DSU a share of the second place honor with the South Carolina State Bulldogs. Regardless of the outcome, the Hornets will enter tournament play as the No. 2 seed and compete on Wednesday, March 10 against the winner of the No. 7/No.10 matchup immediately following the Bears' game.
The 2010 regular season champion, regular-season runners-up, first-team members and top honorees including Player, Rookie, Defensive and Coach of the Year selections, will be recognized in pre-game presentations prior to their first games of the 2010 MEAC Basketball Tournament. The tournament spans March 9-13 at the Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
