MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY SOFTBALL HONORS

 

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Delaware State's Tawny Reeger earned MEAC Softball Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Tuesday, March 23.  Paige Arnold of Coppin State was named the Pitcher of the Week.

Reeger (2B, 5-6, So., Simi Valley, Calif.) hit 7-of-12 from the plate as she aided the Lady Hornets to a 3-2 finish in non-conference play last week.  She hit perfectly in two games, both coming against Rhode Island, and recorded four walks and nine RBI for the week.  Defensively Reeger tallied 13 putouts and 12 assists at second base.

Arnold (P, 5-7, So., Detroit, Mich.) picked up a pair of wins against Pace and Bowie State last week for the CSU Lady Eagles.  She pitched a one-hit shutout against Pace, which included a career-best 13 strikeouts.  She capped her week by throwing a no-hitter against Bowie State with12 strikeouts.  For the week, she allowed only one hit in 14 innings pitched and struck out 25 batters.
