MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

North Carolina A&T senior Lamona Smalley was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Teammate Amber Calvin earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Hampton's Quanneisha Perry earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Smalley (Forward/Center, 6-0, Sr., Philadelphia, Pa.) averaged a double-double of 14.5 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 75-percent from the field (12-of-16) in two conference wins for the Lady Aggies last week to extend their conference win streak to nine. She tallied 12 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals in a win over Morgan State. She followed with 17 points on 8-of-10 from the field while adding 12 rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal in a win against Delaware State.

Calvin (Guard, 5-8, Fr., Fayetteville, N.C.) totaled 28 points and 10 rebounds to aid the Lady Aggies last week. The rookie shot 55-percent from the field (10-of-18) and 40-percent from 3-point range (4-of-10). She added 12 assists, one block and three steals during the week.

Perry (Forward, 5-10, Jr., Decatur, Ga.) grabbed 20 rebounds, recorded three steals and one block in two conference wins last week. Offensively, Perry added 37 points and two assists.

Other Top Performers:

Zykia Brown (How) averaged 21 points, six rebounds and two steals, as the Lady Bison posted a 2-0 mark last week. 

Portia Deterville (How) shot 50-percent from the field and totaled 12 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in two victories for the Lady Bison.
