LADY RATTLERS TAKE THIRD IN BOWLING CLASSIC.

In the final day of the 2010 FAMU Rattlers NCAA Bowling Classic, the Florida A&M University Bowling team finished third, while cross town rival Florida State won the event, Sunday morning at Capital Lanes.

In opening baker play, the Lady Rattler went 2-1 defeating Winston-Salem State 684-544 and Bethune-Cookman 763-583, but falling to Florida State 749-661.

In the tournament round total pin fall would decide the seeding for the tournament with the number one seed getting the bye to face the winner of the number two and number three match up.

FAMU earned the number two seed in tourney with a total pinfall of 9,9766.  Florida State claimed the number one tournament seed with a total pinfall of 9,768, edging the Lady Rattlers by two pins.  Bethune-Cookman earned the number three seed with a total pinfall of 9,050.

In the best of the seven baker match series, FAMU fell to B-CU three games to four. 

The Lady Wildcats took game one 168-158.  But the Lady Rattlers would bounce back winning games two (179-145) and three (181-142).  B-CU would win games four (224-208) and five (177-156).    FAMU would force a seventh and deciding game winning game six (216-168).

The seventh and deciding game would be a battle for the ages as neither team would fold.  But a costly missed spare in the seventh frame resulted in B-CU squeezing out a 183-173 win.

FAMU's Jazmin Bingham earned All-Tournament honors.
