MEAC Announces Men?s Basketball Weekly Honors

 

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., February 15, 2010 - Delaware State's Marcus Neal was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.  Howard's Dadrian Collins earned Rookie of the Week accolades and Kyle O'Quinn of Norfolk State was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Neal (G/F, 6-5, 215, Sr., Trenton, N.J.) averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists as he led the Hornets to conference wins over Norfolk State and Bethune-Cookman.  Against the NSU Spartans, Neal registered 16 points, five boards, and two assists.  He scored 17 points with five rebounds and two steals connecting on 7-of-11 field goals in a 67-50 win over the Wildcats.

Collins (F, 6-5, 185, Fr., Fredericksburg, Va.) averaged 11.0 points, sinking 7-of-16 3-pointers, to aide the Bison to a 1-1 mark last week.  He recorded 12 points, with four 3-point baskets and scored seven of the team's final nine points in Howard's 59-49 win over North Carolina A&T.

O'Quinn (F, 6-10, 225, So., Jamaica, N.Y.) grabbed 21 rebounds, blocked two shots and dished out three steals as the Spartans posted a 1-1 record last week.  He pulled down a game-high 17 boards with two blocks, along with 12 points, against Delaware State. 

Other Top Performers

Sean Berry (UMES) recorded 12 rebounds with seven points against Florida A&M. 

Tim Burns (UMES) scored 17 points, connecting on 8-of-15 shots from the field, with five steals, three assists and one rebound against Florida A&M.

Michael Deloach (NSU) averaged 20 points, three rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals to help NSU to a 1-1 MEAC mark last week.

Tyler Hines (UMES) recorded a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds with one assist and one block in a win against North Carolina A&T.

Adam Walker (How) totaled 16 points and 16 rebounds in a pair of conference games last week for the Bison.
