MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

Hampton junior Quanneisha Perry was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Howard's Saadia Doyle earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Morgan State's Kristina Rosario earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.


Perry
(Forward, 5-10, Jr., Decatur, Georgia) averaged a double-double of 17.5 points and 16 rebounds, while shooting 44-percent from the field (14-of-32) in two conference victories for the Lady Pirates last week. Against Florida A&M Perry tallied a double-double of 19 points and 19 rebounds.  She followed that performance with her seventh double-double of the season (16 points, 13 rebounds) in a win over Delaware State. This is the second straight week that Perry has earned Player of the Week accolades.

Doyle (Forward, 5-11, Fr., Atlanta, Ga.) Doyle averaged 21 points and 12 rebounds in a two games for the Lady Bison last week. She tallied 10 points, 14 rebounds and two steals against Bethune-Cookman. She followed with a career-high 32 points and 10 rebounds for her 13th double-double of the year in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore. This is the second consecutive week that Doyle has earned Player of the Week accolades.

Rosario (Center/Forward, 6-2, Sr., Atlantic City, New Jersey) pulled down 23 rebounds, blocked one shot and tallied two steals to aid the Lady Bears to a 2-0 mark and extend their win streak to five last week.

Other Top Performers:

Corin Adams (MSU) recorded 44 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and five steals for the Lady Bears in two conference outings last week.

Zykia Brown (How) averaged 21 points, five rebounds and two steals, as the Lady Bison posted a 1-1 mark last week.  

Amber Calvin (NCAT) totaled 31 points while shooting 55-percent from the field and 60-percent from 3-point range in two victories last week. She added four rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Lady Aggies.

Cheyenne Curley-Payne (How) matched a career-high five steals in a loss to Bethune-Cookman.

Simone Durden (FAMU) shot 57-percent from the field and pulled down 13 rebounds in two games for the Lady Rattlers.

Demetria Frank (B-CU) scored a season-high 22 points on 5-of-10 from the field and 10-of-14 from the charity stripe in a win over South Carolina State.

Tiana Hemphill (SCSU) shot 50-percent from the field (4-of-8), totaled 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to aid the Lady Bulldogs to a 1-1 mark last week.

April McBride (UMES) shot 44-percent from the field and 57-percent from 3-point range while totaling 37 points, 26 rebounds and 10 steals to aid the Lady Hawks to a 1-2 mark last week.

Casey Morton (UMES) posted 15 points, two rebounds and a career-high seven assists in a non-conference win against North Carolina Central.

Christian Rateree (FAMU) recorded 20 points, four assists, three rebounds, and three steals in a non-conference win over Winston-Salem State.

Chelsea Sanders (UMES) averaged 17 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in three games for the Lady Hawks.

Lamona Smalley (NCAT) posted 14 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block in two Lady Aggie victories.

Whitney Wiley (SCSU) averaged 12 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games for the Lady Bulldogs.
