NORFOLK, Va. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore recorded various season-low statistics on their way to a loss at the hands of Old Dominion University, 81-39, at the Ted Constant Center.
UMES (2-6) gave up a season-high 64 rebounds (34 in the first half) to the Monarchs, who tallied a total of 35 from Chris Cooper (16), Frank Hassell (10) and Keyon Carter (nine). The Hawks also only shot 25.9 percent (15-for-58) from the floor for the game compared to ODU's 43.2 percent (32-for-74).
The game marked the first time this season that no UMES player scored in double-digits. Redshirt junior Hillary Haley (Oxon Hill, Md.) tallied a team-high seven rebounds in the loss.
The Monarchs struck early and never let up as they held UMES scoreless for the first seven-plus minutes of the game. A basket by Obame Obame in the paint at the 12:36 mark marked the first points of the game for the Hawks and made the score 18-2.
