NORFOLK, Va., December 20, 2010 - Bethune-Cookman forward Alexander Starling was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Morgan State teammates Justin Black and Kevin Thompson were selected as the Rookie and Defensive Player's of the Week respectively.
Starling (F, 6-6, 205, Sr., Miami, Fla.) finished with a combined 25 points and 19 rebounds in the Wildcats two non-conference games last week against Baylor and Akron. His was one rebound shy of a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds in overtime loss to Akron. Overall the senior from Miami, Florida shot 53-percent from the field (9-of-17), 50-percent from long range (1-of-2) and 75-percent (6-of-8) from the charity stripe while averaging 36.5 minutes of play.
Black (G, 6-2, 185, Fr., St. Louis, Missouri) was perfect from the floor (4-of-4) and behind the arc (2-of-2) to aid the Bears with a 75-62 win over University of Maryland Baltimore County. He finished with 10 total points along with two rebounds, two assists in 19 minutes of play.
Thompson (F, 6-9, 240, Jr., Baltimore, Md.) recorded seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals in the Bears win over University of Maryland Baltimore County. Offensively he added 14 points in 25 minutes of play.

Louis Bell (UMES) shot 75-percent from 3-point range (3-of-4) to assist the Hawks with nine points in 17 minutes of play against No. 8 Pittsburgh.
Dishawn Bradshaw (UMES) recorded 12 points, five assists and four rebounds against No. 8 Pittsburgh.
Hillary Haley (UMES) led the Hawks with 17 points, three rebounds and three assist in a loss to No. 8 Pittsburgh.
DeWayne Jackson (MSU) connected on 5-of-8 shots from the floor to lead the Bears with 15 points in a 75-62 win over University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Darnell Porter (SCSU) recorded 26 total points, six rebounds, and four assists in two non-conference games for the Bulldogs.
Mikel Trapp (B-CU) scored 12 points with three rounds in the Wildcats overtime loss to Akron.
