NCCU Grabs Second Straight Win

DURHAM, N.C. (NCCUEaglePride.com)- North Carolina Central won its third straight home contest thanks in part to junior Nick Chasten's fourth career double-double that included a career-high 15 rebounds in leading the squad to the 62-56 victory over Washington Adventist in a hard fought contest on Wednesday night at McDougald-McLendon Gym.

Along with Chasten's double-double, C.J. Wilkerson finished with 14 points despite a 3-for-9 effort from the free-throw line, Clement ended the night with 13 points even though he was a disappointing 3-for-11 from the outside.

For the 0-7 Shock, point guard Jamie Newton opened up the eyes of all 1,891 in attendance as the senior went 10-for-14 from the field including 4-for-6 from three-point range finishing with a game-high 25 points as the only player for WAU to register double figures.

With the win, NCCU begins the home slate 3-0 for the first time since the 2004-05 season, and evens its record on the year at 3-3.

William & Mary Bench Proves To Be Too Much In Bison Loss

Williamsburg, Va.‑ Anton Dickerson poured in a career-high 28 points, but it was not enough to overcome the William & Mary bench, which outscored the Bison bench 25-0 in a 76-62 win in a non-conference men's basketball game at Kaplan Arena.

Dickerson connected on 10 of 21 from the field, including 6 of 13 from three-point range, eclipsing his old career mark of 24 points, which he scored against Oregon State on Saturday.

The Bison (1-6, 0-0 MEAC) played the host close through most of the first half until the Tribe (3-4, 0-0 CAA) used its bench to pull away to a 35-22 halftime lead.

Most of the damage was done by Tim Rushoven and Brandon Brit, who combined for 18 points off the bench.

The Bison, who were playing with three walk-ons, were further hurt by the loss of their only post player Alphonso Leary, who fouled out after only playing 12 minutes and scoring two points.

The Tribe held a decided advantage with their size and depth, scoring 32 of their points in the paint and out rebounding the smaller Bison 40-31.

Wildcats end four-game losing streak with 74-49 decision over FCC

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman was back home and Garrius Holloman was back in form Wednesday as the Wildcats defeated Florida Christian 74-49 in historic Moore Gymnasium.

After dropping four straight on its West Coast swing, B-CU (3-4) remained unbeaten at home as Holloman broke out of a mild slump and finished with a season-high 22 points to compliment CJ Reed's game-high 26.

CJ Reed posted his fifth 20-point game of the season and it may have been the quietest 26 points the junior has scored in his B-CU career.

B-CU scored the first 12 points of the second half to go up to go up 51-26 with 14:38 to play and led by as many as 29 down the stretch.
