Coppin State Falls to Missouri State
BALTIMORE -- Casey Garrison scored 19 points and Jasmine Malone added 18 as Missouri State escaped the Physical Education Center with a 67-61 non-conference win over Coppin State on Friday.
Garrison, who had to leave the game midway through the first half with a cut over her eye, had 13 points in the first half. She added six points after returning from the injury and also tied for the team high with nine rebounds.
Malone was 5-of-12 from the floor and 7-of-7 from the line to help lead the Bears to the victory. She also finished with nine rebounds and four steals.
Missouri State (8-2) used a late 11-1 run to pull away from the Eagles.
Coppin State (2-6) was led by Jeanine Manley who scored a game-high 22 points. Spotwood finished with 18 points and Crystal Whittington added nine points. Manley and Spotwood each collected nine rebounds for the Eagles.
Missouri State shot 44.0 percent from the floor in the second half, while limiting Coppin State to just 31.6 percent shooting.

Cajuns Hold Off SSU Women
LAFAYETTE, La.- Louisiana-Lafayette held Savannah State without a field goal the final 2:54 and went on to defeat the Lady Tigers 63-58 in Long Gym.
SSU trailed 55-52 but a layup by Ezinne Kalu at the 2:54 mark pulled the Lady Tigers within one.
The Cajuns would answer with five consecutive points to build a six point advantage but SSU would get two free throws apiece from Kalu and Alisha Nelson to slice their deficit to 60-58 with 34 seconds on the clock.
After Krystal Motley's free throw put Louisiana-Lafayette ahead by three, Jasmine Kirkland missed the game-tying 3 pointer with six seconds remaining and the Cajuns added two more points from the foul line to get the win.
Savannah State fell to 4-6 with the loss while the Cajuns improved to 6-5.
The Lady Tigers led by as many as six points in the first period and held a 29-27 halftime advantage.
The first half featured seven ties and nine lead changes.
SSU led by two with just under eight minutes remaining but a layup and jumper by Darice Fountaine extended their lead to 52-46 with 7:25 on the clock.
The Cajuns answered with a 14-2 run to go ahead 60-54 with 1:18 left.
Fountaine had 16 points and 6 rebounds while Kalu added 14 points. Nelson had 9 rebounds and 8 points.
Mercedes Johnson led the Cajuns with 15 points and 8 rebounds.
