WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Taysha Pye scored 28 points to lead William & Mary over the Norfolk State women's basketball team, 74-59, Wednesday evening at Kaplan Arena.

The Tribe (1-6) secured their first win of the season as Pye and Emily Correal (18 points) combined for 46 points on the night. The loss dropped NSU to 4-3 on the season.

Junior Whitney Long was the only player in double figures for the Spartans, as she posted 24 points on 11-of-22 shooting with seven rebounds and three steals. It marked the second-highest scoring output of her career.

Sophomore Marian Brooks tallied nine points with 10 rebounds, while freshman Rae Corbo added eight points. Sophomore Recca Trice posted a game-high five assists for NSU.

Nicholls State Capitalizes on Very Off Game for the Lady Wildcats

THIBODAUX, La. - The Lady Wildcats struggled right out of the gate against the Colonels of Nicholls State (3-6). After B-CU took their first lead, NSU fired right back with a run to go into halftime up by 17. NSU kept their intensity and grew their lead in the second half, leading by as many as 31, ending in a 71-44 loss for the Lady Wildcats.

B-CU also took a major hit when starting guard Demetria Frank went down with a hard injury, leading all scorers when she left the game. The absence of her tough defense and scoring ability made a noticeable impact on the play of the Lady Wildcats.

Playing short-handed, the Lady Wildcats inexperienced bench was exposed as they found problems covering NSU's top scorer, KK Babin, who caught fire early in the game, going 5 of 10 from the perimeter to lead all scorers with 20, including 12 in the first half.

Jasmine Elum topped B-CU's scoring with nine points, while Demetria Frank and Sarah Bolden each had eight. Bolden and Cleniece Roberts each topped the team in rebounds with 9. Bolden also collected 4 steals.
