Jericka Jenkins was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. North Carolina A&T's
Sabre Proctor earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Hampton's
Quanneisha Perry earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Jenkins (Guard, 5-4, Jr., Lancaster, Texas) averaged 18.0 points, 8.0 assists , 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals to aid Hampton to a 2-0 mark last week. Jenkins scored 22 points, four rebounds and four assists against East Carolina. In a win over Florida, the guard tallied a double-double of 14 points and 12 assists along with three rebounds and two steals.
Proctor (Forward, 6-0, Fr., Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) scored 15 points including 6-of-10 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line, in 18 minutes of action, to aid the Lady Aggies to a 57-53 win over Marshall. Proctor added four rebounds, one assist and one steal in the victory.
Perry (Forward, 5-10, Sr., Decatur, Georgia) totaled 20 rebounds, including a game-high 11 boards, in a 69-54 win over Florida. For the week, she added 31 points, two blocks and two steals during the Lady Pirates' two victories.
Other Top Performers:
Nicole Collins (FAMU) recorded a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Western Kentucky.
Tameka McKelton (FAMU) tallied 17 points, shooting 75-percent from beyond the arc, against Western Kentucky.
Kwinnyata Mercer (UMES) aided the Lady Hawks with 13 points in 24 minutes of play in a 58-56 overtime victory against Long Island.
Jalessa Sams (NCAT) posted nine points and five steals against Marshall.
Chelsea Sanders (UMES) scored 13 points, five rebounds and three steals in a win over Long Island.
