Buzzer-Beater Lifts Savannah State Over Central Florida
SAVANNAH, Ga.- Ezinne Kalu scored a game-high 22 points but none was bigger than the 3-pointer she hit at the buzzer to give Savannah State a 56-54 win over Central Florida in Tiger Arena before 757 fans.
The win evens Savannah State's overall record at 3-3 but improves their record at Tiger Arena to 3-0.
Central Florida, who was led by Aisha Patrick's 17 points and seven rebounds, drops to 3-3.
Darisa Fountaine added 11 points and six rebounds for SSU while Alisha Nelson had 10 points.
After shooting 34.8 from the floor in the first period, SSU made half of its shots in the second half and finished shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 70 percent (7-of-10) from 3-point range.
Kalu made 4 of 6 3-point attempts and added four assists and three steals.

Lady Eagles Win Home Opener
BALTIMORE -- Freshman Larissa Carter scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Leola Spotwood added 14 points and 10 rebounds as Coppin State notched a victory in its home opener with a 95-65 victory over Lincoln (Pa.) on Tuesday in the Physical Education Complex.
The Eagles, who improved to 2-3 on the season, placed five players in double figures led by Carter and Spotwood. Ashle Craig scored 16 points and Kyra Coleman and Shawntae Payne each scored 10 points.
Coppin State shot a season-best 53.5 percent from the floor and forced the Lions into 35 turnovers. CSU outscored Lincoln 44-34 in the paint and scored 47 points off of Lion turnovers.

Charlotte Eases To Victory Over North Carolina A&T
GREENSBORO - Thirteen players scored for Charlotte Tuesday night in an 89-58 win over the North Carolina A&T at the Corbett Sports Center.
Kendria Holmes and Shannon McCallum led the way for the 49ers with 13 points apiece. The 49ers out-rebounded the Aggies 58-44.
Charlotte pulled away from the Aggies for good with an 8-0 run that was fueled by two Gabby Tyler breakaway layups. When Kendria Holmes found Jessica Johnson cutting to the basket for an open jump shot, the 49ers took a 61-40 lead with 12:06 to play.
Senior Jaleesa Sams led the Aggies with 15 points. Nikia Gorham added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
