N.C. A&T Aggies Hold Off UNCG Spartans

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Thomas Coleman scored a career-high 20 points, took down 14 rebounds, recorded three steals and blocked three shots to lead the Aggies to a huge 82-70 win over cross-town rival UNC Greensboro Monday night at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The extra attention is paying off for Coleman. He already has 20 blocks. He dished out four assists last week against UNC Wilmington, and he is averaging a double-double (points and rebounds).
On Monday, he did just about everything to disrupt UNCG defensively and offensively. There were times when he made steals and led the break. On other occasions, he altered shots. There was also the outstanding pass to R.J.
Buck that led to the highlight dunk of the night as Buck raised high above the rim for the score that tied the game at 49 four minutes into the second half.
With 5:32 remaining in the game, his follow-up slam of a Buck miss gave the Aggies a 67-66 lead. They never trailed again. After taking 13 first-half threes, the Aggies used dribble penetration to get into the paint in the second half. They shot just four threes in the second half and took over the game in the last six minutes by getting to the basket, getting fouled and shooting free throws.
The Aggies outscored the Spartans 22-8 in the paint in the second half.

Rally Lead La Salle Past Hornets

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Delaware State held the lead for more than 38 minutes of the game, but La Salle staged a late comeback to defeat the Hornets 65-61 at Tom Gola Arena this evening.
The Hornets fell to 2-2 on the season, while the Explorers improved to 5-2.
The loss overshadowed the hot shooting of Delaware State freshman guard Desi Washington, who scored a game-high 17 points. Washington was 6-for-8 from the field, including 5-of-6 from three-point territory.
The Harrisburg, Pa., native has scored 50 points and knocked down 13 three-pointers in the last three games.
The Hornets led by as many as 14 points in the second half before La Salle stormed back. DSU held its biggest lead, 47-33, on a jumper by Terron Stowe with 17:18 left to play.
Delaware State led 60-49 before La Salle scored 16 of the last 17 points over the last 9:17 of the game. The Explorers took their first lead, 62-61, on a three-pointer by Ruben Guillandeaux with 1:05 left in the game.
After a turnover on the Hornets' next possession, Tyreek Duren hit two free throws with 31 seconds left to give La Salle a 64-61 lead.
