MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

Morgan State University guard Moneshia Davis was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Norfolk State's Rae Corbo earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Bethune-Cookman's Demetria Frank earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Davis (Guard, 5-9, So., St. Louis, Missouri) averaged 13.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.0 steals to aid Morgan State to a 1-1 mark last week. She shot 50-percent from the field (12-of-24) and 75-percent from beyond the arc (3-of-4) to earn All-Tournament honors at the DePaul Maggie Dixon Classic. In a win over Northwestern State she was just one rebound shy of a triple-double with 16 points, 10 steals and nine rebounds.

Corbo (Guard, 5-6, Fr., Englewood, N.J.) was 6-of-10 from the floor in the Spartans' 66-51 non-conference win over Wofford. Corbo posted 13 points and added two steals, one rebound and one assist in 17 minutes of play.

Frank (Guard, 5-9, Sr., Miami, Florida) grabbed 11 rebounds, along with 13 steals in two games for the Lady Wildcats last week. Offensively, she added 25 points and dished out four assists.

Other Top Performers:

Tasia Bristow (DSU) totaled 24 points, including 60-percent from 3-point range, to aid the Lady Hornets to a 1-1 record last week.

Sarah Daily (NSU) scored 11 points and five rebounds in a 66-51 win over Wofford.

Saadia Doyle (HOW) posted a double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds in the Bison's loss to Jacksonville.  

DJ Fowler (B-CU) led her team with 15 points and three rebounds , shooting 4-of-5 from the floor, in a win over Jacksonville State.

Rachel Gordon (NSU) tallied seven points and pulled down seven rebounds against Wofford.

Tameka McKelton (FAMU) led the Lady Rattlers with 25 points, three rebounds and three steals in a loss to Cleveland State.
