Florida A&M Downs Norfolk State, 3-1

Florida A&M celebrated senior day with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-13, 25-19,25-17) win over Norfolk State in their final MEAC Southern Division match of the season, Sunday afternoon at the Lawson Center.

 FAMU (11-13, 7-1) had a trio of Lady Rattlers to finish in double-digit kills as Katherine Huanec finished with a team high 13 kills.  Pamela Barrera finished the match with 12 kills, while Maria Ceccarelli tallied 11.  Diana Gonzalez led the Lady Rattler in assists with 42, while Susan Egoavil led the team in digs with 13.

NSU (13-19, 6-2) MEAC had a pair of Spartans to finish in double-digit kills. Charlotte Armstead finished the match with a game high 19 kills, while Ellica Morris added 13.   Nicole Kessner led the team in assists with 44, while Paige Gary-Canty led the team in digs with 11.

In the first set, FAMU grabbed a 10-4 lead capped off by a Barrera kill. 

NSU would then go on a 12-2 run to tie the set, capped off by a FAMU reception error.  The set would have three more ties in it.    The Spartans would go on to win the set 25-21.

FAMU would bounce back in the second set as they took a 13-7 lead on a NSU attack error.  The Lady Rattlers would outscore the Spartans 12-6 as FAMU won the second set 25-13.

The Spartans grabbed an early 5-2 lead in the third set. 

FAMU would then rattle off four straight points to take a 6-5 lead. 

The Lady Rattlers would then extend their lead to 17-10.  FAMU would go on to win the third set 25-19.

FAMU would win the fourth set 25-17 to win the match.
