Spartans Place 15th at NCAA XC Regional

The Norfolk State men's cross country team concluded its 2010 season with a 15th-place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Saturday morning at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park.

The Spartans were paced by sophomore Vincent Rono, who finished 40th out of 231 runners. He finished the 10,000-meter course in 31 minutes, 50.5 seconds. Fellow sophomore Amos Kipkosgei was 61st overall in 32:14.2. Philemon Kimutai was close behind, placing 64th (21:17.4).

Josef Tessema was fourth among the Spartans and 125th overall in 33:33.0, and Kameron George rounded out the top five in 193rd (35:21.8).

The Spartans have three weeks off before transitioning to indoor track season, which begins Dec. 5 at Christopher Newport.
