Delaware State closed out the MEAC regular season with a 3-1 win over Howard in Memorial Hall on Thursday evening. The scores were 25-12, 22-25, 25-15 and 25-15.
The Hornets won their third straight match to improve to 15-11 overall and 8-2 in the MEAC. The Bison fell to 8-19 and 5-5.
DSU matched a school record for MEAC wins in a season. The Hornets also tied with Maryland Eastern Shore for first place in the 2010 MEAC North standings.
Delaware State freshman Jessica Croucher led all players with 12 kills. She also recorded a career-high three solo blocks. Fellow freshman Brooke Redmon tallied 11 kills on 15 attempts (.600). Martina Ferrari recorded a double-double for the Hornets, posting 28 assists and 11 digs, each a match high.
Tosin Elebute led Howard with nine kills, while Nicole Brown led the Bison with 10 digs.
The Hornets recorded a .235 attack percentage in the contest, collecting 41 kills and just 17 errors in 102 attacks. Howard had 32 kills and 32 errors for a .000 attack percentage.
