MEAC Announces Cross Country Weekly Honors

Norfolk State junior Josef Tessema and South Carolina State junior Brittney Stewart were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Tessema (Jr., Springfield, Virginia) won the Great American Cross Country Invite (HBCU Challenge) with a time of 24:47.8 on the 8K course.  Tessema paced the #11 Spartans and guided them to their third straight meet victory.  

Stewart (Jr., Warner Robins, Georgia) took home first place honors at the Great American Cross Country Invite (HBCU Challenge). Stewart guided her team to a second place finish with a 5K course time of 18:46.7.

Clarricia Golden (FAMU) won the Bobby Lang Invite, hosted by Florida A&M with a time of 19:24.72.

David Kimani (Hampton) set a personal best time on an 8K course in 25:26.30 at the Great American Cross Country Invite (HBCU Challenge).

Charles Kurgatt (SCSU) was 14th out of 93 runners at the Great American Cross Country Invite (HBCU Challenge) with a time of 27:05.3.

Kellen Rutto (NSU) finished in second with a time of 19:05.8 at the Great American Cross Country Invite (HBCU Challenge).

Dashera Richardson (DSU) was among the top 15 with a time of 22:37.0 on the 6K course at the Don Cathcart Invite.

Kelli Thibou (DSU) aided the Hornets with a time of 26:43 at the Don Cathcart Invite

Devyn Thomspon (Hampton) ran a 19:16.30 on the 5K course at the Great American Cross Country Invite (HBCU Challenge) to finish third.


Shuaib Winters (FAMU) won the Bobby Lang Invite, hosted by Florida A&M with a time of 25:20.91.
