Rutto Paces NSU Women at Tribe Open
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Norfolk State sophomore Kellen Rutto recorded a fourth-place finish on Saturday afternoon to pace the Spartan women at the Tribe Open hosted by William & Mary.
Rutto finished the 6,000-meter course in 23 minutes, 8 seconds. She was the only Spartan to finish in the top 10.
Senior Jennifer Chichester was the next-highest NSU finisher. She placed 13th in 23:43.
Rounding out the Spartans' top five finishers were Syeeda Gee in 30th place (25:23), Mercy Koech in 35th (26:30) and Lillian Morales-Gonzalez in 36th (26:56).

UMES Men And Women Finish Third At Blue And Gold Invite
NEWARK, Del. - In preparation for the upcoming MEAC Championship, Maryland Eastern Shore men's and women's cross country teams faced their toughest course of the season with the University of Delaware Blue and Gold Invitational, held at White Clay Creek State Park Saturday.
Both squads finished with a third place finish and were once again led by sophomore Basil Melek and junior Cynthia Anais.
Melek finished the men's eight-kilometer race in a time of 26:16.44, which was good for fourth place overall. Anais placed eighth in the women's five-kilometer race with a time of 19:34.34.
"This was definitely the toughest course and meet we've ran at all year," said head coach Ernest Barrett. "However, we knew that coming in and that is why we had an easier race last weekend. It's been a tradition for us to purposely schedule and run this meet prior to the conference championship in order to properly prepare."
Senior Peter Sang finished 15th in the men's race with a time of 27:24.86 while fellow senior Amon Kiprotich was 23rd in a time of 27:41.67. Junior Shadrack Maritim crossed in 27:56.89 which was good for 26th place.
In the women's race senior Eunice Jones finished 13th overall with a time of 19:54.01. Sophomore Emilie Ducados finished in 21:26.17, which was good for 30th place.
Shuaib Winter Win His Third Event At Sodexho Invitational
DELAND, Fla. (Oct. 18) - The Florida A&M University finished seventh scoring 175 points, while Shuaib Winter ran a time of 25:23 to win the Sedexho Stetson Hatter Cross Country Invitational, this past Saturday at Sperling Sports Complex.
Lamere Buchanan was the only other Rattler to finish in the top 10 as he ran a time of 26:41 for a 10th place finish.

Lady Rattlers Finish Seventh At Sodexho Invitational
DELAND, Fla. (Oct 18.) - The Florida A&M University Women's Cross Country Team scored 217 points as they finished seventh, this past Saturday in the Sodexho Stetson Hatter Cross Country Invitational, held at the Sterling Sports Complex.
The University of Miami scored 50 points to win the invitational, while Feil Friederlike won the event of Florida Atlantic with a time of 17:33.
The Lady Rattlers were paced Chandelic Jackson as she finished 22nd with a time of 19:49, while Clarricia Golden finished 38th with a time of 20:33.

Kimani Finishes 12th In Tribe Open
Hampton University senior David Kimani paced the men's cross country team at the William & Mary Tribe Open held Saturday morning at Eastern State Hospital with a 12th-place finish.
Kimani ran a 26:59.00 over the 8K course.
Sophomore Xavier Fraction came in 20th with a 27:47.00, while freshman Je'Von Hutchinson a 28:22.00 to finish 26th. Sophomore Michael Davenport finished 27th after running a 28:24.00.
Freshman Jaleel Rogers ran a 30:33.00 to finish tied for 41st, and freshman Larry Ramirez came in 55th with a 33:16.00.
Senior Jasmin Branch paced the Lady Pirates in the women's 6K race, finishing 26th after running a 24:54.00. Freshman Nichelle Harris came in 28th with a 25:05.00, while freshman Devyn Thompson ran a 25:23.00 to finish 29th.
Sophomores Teshika Rivers and Shaquanda Gainey each ran a 26:14.00 to finish tied for 31st.
Ted Richardson won the men's individual title with a 25:03.00, while William & Mary's Avery Mattingly won the women's race with a 22:10.00. No team scores were kept.
