Spartans Pass Challenging Test, Down South Carolina State, 3-0NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State took a big step in moving up in the MEAC with a 3-0 win over South Carolina State Wednesday evening at Joseph Echols Hall.
The Spartans won, 25-19, 27-25, 25-19 for their third win in a row. NSU improved its record to 8-14 overall and 2-1 in the MEAC, while S.C. State fell to 6-18, 1-2.
Sophomore Charlotte Armstead led NSU with eight kills, while freshman Noelle Eagles tallied a match-high 14 digs. Junior Nicole Kessner posted 24 assists, seven digs and five kills.
The Bulldogs, who boasted several big hitters, were led by Jarne Gleaton with 11 kills and six digs and Shabree Robertson with eight kills. Bria Brimmer had 23 assists, while Elizabeth Webb and Melissa Robinson each had 10 digs.

Lady Rattlers Hold Off B-CU, 3-1
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct 13.) - Florida A&M picked up their third MEAC win of the season as they defeated Bethune-Cookman, 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 27-25, 25-20) Wednesday evening at Moore Gymnasium
FAMU (5-11, 3-0 MEAC) finished the match with a season high 55 kills in 174 total attacks with 16 errors for a .224 hitting percentage.
B-CU (4-19, 0-2 MEAC) tallied a game high 62 kills in 177 total attacks with 26 errors for a .203 hitting percentage.
FAMU had a quartet of Lady Rattlers to finish in double-digit kills, with Katherine Huanec leading the way with 16 kills. Maria Ceccarelli finished with 13 kills, while Pamela Barrera tallied 11. Lorin Rucker rounded out the cast of double-digit kill performers with 10. Diana Gonzalez led the team in assists as she dished out a game high 45 assists. Susan Egoavil led the team in digs with 21, followed by Karol Marquez with 16. Ceccarelli, Gonzalez and Huanec also finished in double- digit kills as Ceccarelli finished with 15; Gonzalez with12 and Huanec with 11.
B-CU was paced by Wilson with 16 kills, followed by Davis with 14. Alexis Bliese dished out a team high 32 assists. Jacqueline Woodyear led the team in digs as she finished with a game high 25 digs.
