Morgan State Defeats Coppin State in MEAC Opener
BALTIMORE -- Corin Adams scored 25 points to lead Morgan State to a 61-50 MEAC victory over Coppin State on Saturday in the Physical Education Complex in the conference opener for both schools.
Adams scored 18 first-half points and finished the game 9-of-21 from the floor, while making 5-of-10 three-point attempts to help the Bears snap a five-game losing streak.
Morgan State, which improved to 4-8 overall and 1-0 in the MEAC, won its first game since Nov. 28.
Morgan State also received 14 points and five rebounds from Brittany Noel, while Theresa Davis added five points, six rebounds and two steals.
Sophomore Jeanine Manley led Coppin State with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and senior Lakeytah Irving had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Lady Aggies Knock Off Arch-Rival North Carolina Central
DURHAM - The game could be tic-tac-toe. If it's North Carolina A&T versus North Carolina Central, it's going to be a heated and competitive contest. The 2009-10 North Carolina A&T women's basketball team found that out in its 78-74 win over the Eagles Saturday afternoon at McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.
Every time it appeared the Lady Aggies (6-6) had delivered the knockout blow, the Lady Eagles (2-11) got off the canvas. Two free throws by freshman Amber Calvin with 8.1 seconds remaining to put the Eagles away.
It was the first meeting in nine years between the two arch-rivals.
Senior Tweet Cook led the Lady Aggies with 23 points and continued her hot shooting from 3-point range by going 4-for-7. She is ranked 14th in the nation in 3-point shooting. Calvin added 14 points and four assists. Fellow freshman JaQuayla Berry came off the bench to break open a close game early in the second half.

Lady Rams' Effort Not Enough in 101-38 Loss at #7 North Carolina
CHAPEL HILL, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (2-10) came up short in a 101-38 loss to the #7 North Carolina Tar Heels, the highest ranked WSSU opponent of the season. The loss came with no shortage of fight as the Lady Rams stayed aggressive for the entire game and fought at both ends of the court for all 40 minutes. As a team, the Lady Rams totaled 61 shot attempts and a combined 17 fouls in the game.
There were some positives for the Lady Rams as sophomore guard Taneisha White led the WSSU effort with a career-high 10 points. Junior forward Vontisha Woods nearly recorded a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds in the game. Freshman guard Shawanda Hanton led WSSU with three assists.
The first half was a struggle for the Lady Rams who found the going tough at both ends of the court. The Lady Rams were held scoreless for the first five minutes of the game while the Tar Heels ran off 15 unanswered points to open the game. Junior forward Vontisha Woods would get the scoring started for the Lady Rams with a pair of free throws at the 15:12 mark, followed by a jumper less than a minute later brought the Lady Rams within 14 points of the Tar Heels, 18-4 with just under 14 minutes left in the half.
