MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Honors

Hampton junior Quanneisha Perry was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Howard's Saadia Doyle earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Florida A&M's Qiana Donald earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Perry (Forward, 5-10, Jr., Decatur, Georgia) led the Lady Pirates with a career-high 31 points and 14 rebounds while shooting 70-percent from the field (7-of-10) in a one-point loss to North Carolina A&T. She followed that performance with 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists in an 81-44 victory over Bethune-Cookman.

Doyle (Forward, 5-11, Fr., Atlanta, Ga.) averaged 16 points and eight rebounds in two conference wins for the Lady Bison last week. Against Florida A&M Doyle recorded her 11th double-double of the season with 23 points and 12 rebounds. For the week, Doyle shot 52-percent from the floor and added two assists, one block and four steals in the victories.

Donald (Guard/Forward, 6-0, Sr., Jacksonville, Fla.) pulled down 25 rebounds, blocked three shots and tallied one steal to aid the Lady Rattlers to a 1-1 mark last week. Offensively, she contributed 18 points while shooting 86-percent from the floor. This is the second straight week that Donald has earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Other Top Performers:

Corin Adams (MSU) averaged 18 points and 5.5 steals in two victories for the Lady Bears.

Zykia Brown (How) scored her 1,000th career point and recorded a game-high 26 points in addition to six rebounds in a win over Norfolk State.

Amber Calvin (NCAT) posted 27 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals in two wins for the Lady Aggies.

Cheyenne Curley-Payne (How) totaled 20 points, four rebounds and seven steals for the Lady Bison.

Federica Holloman (DSU) shot 58-percent from the field and tallied 19 points and seven rebounds in two games for the Lady Hornets.

April McBride (UMES) recorded a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds against Bethune-Cookman.


Tameka McKelton (FAMU) averaged 24 points, while shooting 45-percent from the field to aid the Lady Rattlers to a 1-1 mark last week.

Batavia Owens (NSU) posted a career-high 22 points and 20 rebounds in a win over Winston-Salem State.

Chena Parker (UMES) posted 19 points, 10 rebounds and four steals to aid the Lady Hawks to a 1-1 mark last week.

Kristina Rosario (MSU) pulled down 22 rebounds, blocked five shots and tallied one steal in two conference victories last week.

Jaleesa Sams (NCAT) totaled 31 points and 15 rebounds in two victories for the Lady Aggies.

Chelsea Sanders (UMES) was just shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds in a win over Coppin State.

Whitney Wiley (SCSU) averaged 20 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games for the Lady Bulldogs.
