NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State women's tennis team dropped its season opener 7-0 to ODU at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.

ODU (1-0) swept the doubles matches to take the doubles point and had six straight-set singles wins to take the match.

Freshman Silvia Panush and sophomore Naeemah Brooks each won three sets for the Spartans at Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively. Panush fell 6-0, 6-3 to Irina Dementyeva, while Diana Ivanova defeated Brooks 6-1, 6-3.

The Spartans (0-1) return to action on Saturday when they play UNCW at 5 p.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Center.
